This legendary movie has left an everlasting legacy of con films as well as eternal imprint of Don Vito Corleone. But, to the World’s greatest surprise, Marlon Brando refused to accept it. Why Marlon Brando refused Oscar?

Marlon Brando didn’t show up in the 1973 Oscar Ceremony. When the Winner was announced, a little known actress Sacheen Littlefeather appeared on stage on behalf of Marlon Brando. Sacheen said “Brando has asked me to tell you that he would very regretfully cannot accept this generous award. And the reasons for this being are the treatment of American Indians today by the film industry”. While some do the audience booed, most of them applauded.

Marlon Brando had written a 15-page speech, but Sacheen could not read everything because of time. Later, the speech was given to press and it published the entire statement. Marlon Brando was unhappy with the treatment of American Indians by the film industry, they were treated alcoholics, slackers and unintelligent. Marlon Brando believed, actors are obliged to use their fame to help others. This gesture of Marlon Brando was unprecedented, surprising and incredibly applauded throughout the circuit of industry. But, the whole world still believes Marlon Brando won 2 Oscars,no matter what?
