Le Morne

This sparsely populated place is found in the South of the Island and surrounded by hotels.  From Le Morne Brabant, not only can you get a glimpse of the mountain, but you will be up close and personal with the mountain and this makes it a popular destination. History shows that when slavery existed, the slaves used to escape from their masters and take refuge in these mountains. There are also viewpoints that are breathtaking along the southern part of the island as well as along the west coast of the island.

Black River Gorges National Park

This is a vast stretch of land that covers around 3.5% of Mauritius’s land area. It means that you cover a significant portion of Mauritius by just going to this place. It is also the home of more than 300 different types of flowering plants and if you are interested in bird watching, you can spot some endangered and exotic species here.  This is also a famous hiking destination.


The village has the highest waterfall and has Seven Colored Earth. The waterfall falls down from a height of 100 meters.
