It was a proud moment for India when MANUSHI CHILLAR earned the coveted title of miss world 2017, at a glitzing event held at SANYA city area in china. Miss world was also crowned as FEMINA miss India on 25th June 2017. Being from a small village BAMNOLI, tehsil in JHAJJAR district in Haryana and belonging from a JAT community, she became a prominent face throughout the world recently. This biggest achievement and win for India came after 17 years when Priyanka Chopra brought home the coveted title in the year 2000.
Ms. CHHILLAR won this title among 108 women across the world who participated in this beauty pageant. She is the sixth Indian woman to win the coveted title of Miss World. The winner of last year’s title, Puerto Rico’s STEPHANIE DEL VALLE passed on her crown to Miss MANUSHI CHHILLAR.
In top five rounds she was asked which profession according to her deserves the highest salary and her answer was extremely spell-bounding which impressed the judges and got her the crown of Miss World. She said “I think a mother deserves the highest respect and when you talk about salary it’s not always cash but I feel it’s the love and respect that you give to someone. My mother has always been the biggest inspiration in my life”. “All mother sacrifices so much for their kids. So, I think it is the job of mother that deserves the highest salary” CHILLAR said in wide-applause.She comes from a family of doctors. Her father, Dr. MITRABASU CHHILLAR is an endocrinologist at the institute of nuclear medicine and applied sciences, Delhi and mother Dr. NEELAM CHHILLAR is a doctor at the human institute of human behavior and applied sciences, Delhi. She has become an inspiration to many bringing back the miss world crown after 17 years. She is currently a third year student of MBBS at BHAGAT PHOOL SINGH government medical college in SONEPAT.
She has dropped one year of her studies for the miss world contest but she will continue her studies in next year. As per her profile she aims to be a cardiac surgeon and she has plan of opening chains of non-profit hospitals in rural areas. MANUSHI took up the cause of menstrual hygiene, and spread awareness In 20 villages, under her beauty with the purpose project. Her project initiative was called project SHAKTI. Her mother said that she is a gifted and multi-talented child. Also she has a good hand in surgery at this very young age.
She isn’t just a pretty face but she is a complete package as she is excellent in every field. She is a trained dancer and also has a passion for outdoor games and activities like scuba diving, snorkeling and bungee jumping. She has been a sharp student and also been a topper of English in CBSE class 12th. She is a good painter and a fine poetess. Her personal mottos which are mentioned on her website are “when you cease to dream you cease to live” and “courage to give flight to your dreams and the ability to believe in yourself makes life worth living”.
