As Neymar signs a world record deal and completes his move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, every football fanatic can recall how just a few weeks back the transfer rumor had hit headlines and sent shock waves through the football world, turning everyone live wire with surprise and anticipation, only to witness the rumor coming true this week in what is being considered as the biggest transfer in the football history.
Naturally, every eye is now in the transfer window before all the exciting action of all the football leagues begins in a week or two. So here we bring you another big transfer rumor doing the rounds in this pre season football world.
With Neymar leaving Barcelona, the La Liga side is going all outs to bring in an equally huge name as his replacement.
And it is no surprise that their top target is the Liverpool ace, Philippe Coutinho. Barca started with a bid of £72m for Coutinho last week which was straight away rejected with the Liverpool chief, Jurgen Klopp being adamant on not letting his ace midfielder go anywhere.
This week witnessed Barca launching a second bid of £90m for Coutinho. Coutinho’s agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, is presently in London awaiting the final response from Liverpool on this bid.
Currently suffering from a back injury, Coutinho has been unable to travel with the Liverpool squad to Dublin for their friendly against Atheletic Bilbao.
The Spanish daily, Mundo Deportivo, claims that the deal on Philippe Coutinho is almost sealed in favor of Barca as the £90m bid matches Liverpool’s asking price for Coutinho. If Liverpool still stays reluctant to release Coutinho, Barca is believed to up their offer to £108m which will be hard for Liverpool to reject. It is also being claimed that Jurgen Klopp has begun considering replacements for Coutinho with West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini sitting top on the Anfield Chief’s shortlist. So all the football enthusiasts can soon expect to see Coutinho shedding the Liverpool red colors and donning the Barcelona jersey this season.
