Everyone loves a chilled Coke
With perfect marketing and promotion, Coca-Cola knows how to keep its fans happy. Today Coke has become part of a midday meal as well as a mix for a cocktail in bars around the world. Even now vodka with coke is the most highly ordered drink and a standard at any bar.
The company is revamping itself
Coke has now decided to revamp itself by launching the company’s first alcoholic beverage. The country of choice will be Japan.
Cokes answer to Japanese Chu-Hi
President of Coca Coal’s Japan unit Jorge Gardulfo said the company plans to launch the answer to Chu-Hi which is a Japanese alcoholic pop in 2018. Chu-Hi is a low alcohol content beverage extremely popular in Japan.
The new alcoholic coke
Said Gardulfo “This is a canned drink that includes alcohol; traditionally, it is made with a distilled beverage called shōchū and sparkling water, plus some flavoring.” He also said that though Coke has never experimented with alcohol before but the alcoholic coke will be an example of the company’s new exploration into areas it has never gone before.
What the CEO had to say in 2017
IN 2017, Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey had stated to CNBC that the company may soon combine Coke with alcoholic products. Quincey decided that there were huge opportunities that could arise out of Coke’s foray into the alcohol industry.
Although the company is launching an alcoholic Coke in Japan, it may be a while till you get a taste of an alcoholic Coke.
The world’s first alcoholic Coke
This isn’t the first time Coke has experimented with alcohol; the company had started the Cocoa Cola wine spectrum unit that included Sterling Vineyards, Taylor Wine Company and Monterey Vineyards in 1977. In 1983, the wine spectrum was sold to Seagram & Sons for $200 million.
Coke is no outsider to alcohol and if all goes well in Japan, the world may soon get its first alcoholic Coke.
