7 Bedtime Mistakes Making You Gain Weight at Night

If you notice a major increase in your weight, it can frustrate you as well as have many bad effects on your health. Sometimes we are tempted to eat late night dinners or have snacks midnight while knowing the rule of never to eat after 6 p.m.  Studies have proven that weight gain can be caused by eating late.  Your hormonal marks can be affected in a bad way as well as hype up your insulin and cholesterol levels. The main reason for your weight gain is if your calorie consumption is greater than the number of calories you burn.

2. Drinking coffee late at night

It is said that you should not consume coffee 6 hours before you’re about to sleep, especially avoid drinking coffee in the late evenings. Weight gain can also be caused by the chlorogenic acid present in coffee.  Warm water or herbal tea can be the best substitutes to cure your habit.

3. Not getting enough sleep

On a daily basis, a person should sleep for 7- 8 hours a night. If you sleep less than the recommended hours, you can have many health problems. Studies have proven that Negative changes in your metabolism can be related to your sleep deprivation. You can experience fatigues due to sleeping less which will hamper your performance on your day to day activities.

4. Lack of exercise

Your weight can be decreased by physical activities and exercising as they promote the burning of calories and speed up your metabolism. Even on a daily basis, you should perform moderate exercises. You can burn 100 additional calories just by walking for 15 minutes on a daily basis. It can result to a weight loss of 10 lbs a year and per week 700 calories.

Electronic devices emit a blue ray which can result to your sleep deprivation if you use them before sleeping. It has been proven by studies and that it leads to gain in weight. Melatonin is a hormone which functions to regulate our daily sleep cycle. These devices affect the production of this hormone. You should rather read an interesting book or listen to peaceful music rather than surfing through the web before sleeping.

6. Setting the alarm too late

Being exposed to bright light in the morning has said to reduce the body mass index compared to those who are exposed to the day rays, this fact has been proven by research.  Your body mass index can be affected by just bathing in 20 -30 minutes of outdoor rays. You should go for a morning run early in the morning.
